We are just days away from Christmas now. It has been obvious that many people have controversial views on this Christmas and tight budgets. With the economy in the most serious roller-coaster ride of its existence, we’re faced, with 2011 looming, with many challenging choices. I have been happy to see a few things swing in our favor, though, politically-speaking. Mid-Term elections voting out many an incumbent politician, serving too long, and getting in fresh new younger ones with, thankfully, traditional plans for the United States. We are not, by any means, out of the woods yet, but I am happy a light can be seen at the end of this long tunnel.
Barack Obama has proven one thing, though. He has failed at his job, but is trying to cooperate with the GOP. This is something, I know, that the liberal democrats aren’t happy with, at all. I do not know what is coming next. I must admit, when he came to an agreement with the GOP on the tax cuts, I did not see that one coming. But I am taking everything with a grain of salt, here.
I was pleasantly surprised, though, when I was surfing the internet and found an article written by one of my favorite action movie stars, Chuck Norris, he calls “Obama vs. Reagan” and it was quite intriguing and refreshing. He had quite a few interesting things to note about Obama. But the one part that stood out to me was something he mentioned about Christmas. He and his wife went to Prague, in the Czech Republic and here’s a small piece from it:
A few months ago, when I was filming my six T-Mobile Christmas commercials at Prague in the Czech Republic, my wife, Gena, and I discovered a Christmas tradition they have that we wish was a part of our tradition in America. They still call Christmas “Christmas,” not “Happy Holidays.” And on Christmas morning they tell their children that Jesus brings the Christmas tree and Jesus brings the gifts. It really brought a great amount of joy to our hearts when we heard about that tradition. That is when we knew going there to film those commercials was a great decision.”
God certainly has things happen a certain way for a very good reason. He is one person I hope to meet someday. Being an action movie star certainly gives you an advantage in many things, especially to express your Christian faith. That is one of the things I’ve always appreciated about Chuck Norris.
But I am not going to get too far off track, here. I am certain that 2011 is going to be an exciting year in many ways. Some good, some challenging & hard. But I have faith that God and Jesus Christ will be with us through it all. He never did promise life would be easy, He only promised it would be worth it. In fact, with these hard times, I am reminded of the 6th Chapter in Matthew, in the New Testament. Verses 25 and 26: Jesus said, “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?”
It is a great miracle, to me, of Jesus Christ being born, giving us Christmas time. Not because of the presents, though I admit it is nice, but because of the promise of God to us. He wants us back in Heaven with Him. And Jesus is the only way to do it, accepting him as our Savior, and acknowledging him as the true Son of God. I’ve already done that. I try my best to give Jesus & God ALL of my worries and concerns. Sometimes it can be hard, as some of us are geared to constantly need to fix things and if we don’t, we worry about them. But if they’re ready to be fixed, God would give you the time to do so. I don’t know how, but it happens in ways we least expect it. Why? Because God works in very mysterious ways.
I hope and pray that we find a way to fix our country next year. Who knows what kind of Christmas miracle God will give us for 2011. We can only wait, pray, and see what happens. Merry Christmas, everyone!
